It occurred to me the other day that I have developed a slight crush on Paul Rudd. Not the heartbreakingly agonizing crushes that I have had in years past – but a sweet crush of appreciation.
I got to thinking about some of my more memorable celebrity crushes.
The first one I can remember was with Luke Skywalker/Mark Hamill. After I saw Star Wars (I think I was 10 when it came out) he was all I could think about.
It’s funny that I don’t recall even taking much notice of Harrison Ford at the time.
He was probably too much of a man for a ten-year-old to understand.
My next major celebrity crush was on Kyle MacLachlan in the Blue Velvet/Twin Peaks years. He was so very cool & awkward at the same time. A winning combination.
Although it is possible that the true crush might have been on David Lynch, now that I think about it.
And then it was David Duchovny in his X Files days. Oh my god – some serious voodoo went on during this crush. I couldn’t even see a photo of him without feeling like I would cry. His mere existence made me ache.
(How embarrassing.)
This list is far from comprehensive. I really should add the entire cast of The English Patient. Sam Neill. Speed Racer (yes, the animated character). Jon Stewart. Possibly Jennifer Garner. Definitely Peta Wilson.
